SFO charges three former Tesco executives

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has charged three former Tesco executives with one count of Fraud by Abuse of Position and one count of False Accounting.

The alleged activity occurred between February and September 2014.

The SFO started a criminal investigation in October 2014, a week after the accounting irregularities came to light at the leading supermarket.

Christopher Bush was managing director of Tesco UK, Carl Rogberg was UK finance director and John Scouler was UK food commercial director.

The above three are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 22nd September 2016.

The investigation into Tesco PLC remains ongoing.

On 31st August The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) closed its investigation into Mr Laurie McIlwee, former Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
