Two former finance managers who worked for an exclusive private London hospital, which treats British Olympic athletes have been jailed for stealing nearly £30,000 from patients.
The pair siphoned off money which patients paid to the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood, home to the medical headquarters of British Athletics and the UK’s premier Catholic Hospital.
Between them, they were jailed for a total of 16 months at Southwark crown court. One was jailed for six months while the other for 10 months.
Reported in the Evening Standard, Judge Martin Beddoe told them: “You betrayed the substantial trust that your employers and the patients held in you.”
Hospital colleagues became suspicious of the pair and instigated an investigation.
