Accountant stole £188,000 from employer to lavish on his partner

An accountant who defrauded his employer to wine and dine his partner has been jailed for four years.

He had previously pleaded guilty to stealing £188,000 from Chartered Surveyors & Property Consultants, Alpha Browett Taylor.

The fraud that took place between January 2013 and August 2017. He used the money to fund an extravagant lifestyle, including spending £30,000 on expensive holidays.

He was not in a position to replay any of stolen money, according to the court case.

He changed the bank account details of the property and asset management company's contractors to his own account. He also made out fake invoices. The BBC reported.

He added he may have had a vendetta against the owner of the company, Richard Hutt.  Company owner Richard Hutt said in a statement, he had worked seven days a week to repay clients, the BBC added.
