Government Eases Supplier Pressure

Monday 21st May, 2012

The Cabinet Office has announced that the latest version of the Government's CloudStore has gone live today. With claims that this version has better searching and comparisson services, The Cabinet Office says the aim is to make the service better for suppliers who will be paid more quickly and more easily.

The solution has been built on the Government eMarketplace, to maximise the use of existing technology, but the intention is to consider using open source in future developments.

Andy Nelson, Govermnent Chief Information Officer said:

"Using cloud solutions in the public sector that have been assured and accredited will almost always be less expensive, and we will only pay for what we use."
